I went today to get my hair done (the whole shabang) before I take off for Arizona. I absolutely love the girl who does my hair, and no lie, one of the very first things I thought about after I made the decision to move was: who's going to do my hair?!?!?!
I feel all refreshed and clean now that my grays are covered (yes, at 24 I'm gray) and I'm pounds lighter. Since I was there for nearly two and a half hours, I had the opportunity to see many clients come in and out. The salon I go to is pretty trendy, most of the hairdressers have tattoos and unconventional hair colors and cuts, but I love the place. Needless to say, there are a plethora of people who come there ... from high school kids to the elderly (Color by Numbers does not discriminate, lol).
As I was sitting (hiding) in the back while my hair was processing, a woman of undetermined age and a man in his 50's came in. I could hear them before I saw them, and they both came back to the nail portion of the salon. Turns out, this woman (I couldn't figure out if she was an older daughter or a young-looking wife) brought the man to get a pedicure. I know my dad, who might as well have been the twin to this man, would never step foot a) in this salon ("men only go to barber shops!") and b) get a pedicure.
The man had brought his Sports Illustrated with him (to put a manly edge on the whole ordeal?) and cautiously walked up to the pedicure throne. He stood with magazine under arm, and coffee cup in hand surveying the apparatus. He seriously looked like he was admiring some sort of handy work he had done, and he also looked timid about what lied ahead of him.
It was really cute to see him, and he got really excited when the gal told him that the chair massaged and had heat (you would have thought she told him it was Christmas). This makes me think I should try to get my dad to get a pedicure (we've already gotten him addicted to massages...so there's still hope).
I've begun a post with my Last-week-in-Ohio details but ran out of time last night, so I'll post those soon. Tonight we're going to one of my favorite restaurants Melt . It's a restaurant that specializes in gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches (yes, I know, heaven!). I'm so sad to not have this yummy place in Glendale to dine at (perhaps I'll have to open one...). Then, my sister and I are going to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Details to follow....
