winter?

Last weekend I drove out to Gilbert (or was it Chandler?) to see my friend Emily. It was so great to see her! Such a pleasure to catch up. We ate at On the Border, a Mexican restaurant that was quite tasty. We talked and talked for hours about everything and anything. Mostly we talked about books and I told her about my newest endeavor and Daily Lit. Much to my pleasure, she's signed up for Daily Lit! Yay! (Maggie is also interested!)

I got to meet Emily and Scott's adorable little bean-pole Logan! He's 5 months and is quite possibly the cutest 5 month old I have ever met. He was happy as a clam (except at feeding time -- haha) and had such a cute personality. He's such a little man and is the perfect mix of both of his parents (mom's nose and mouth, dad's eyes and everything else). I'm so glad I got to meet little Logan!

Suddenly it's become winter in Arizona. On Thanksgiving day it was probably a comfortable 75 degrees. On Sunday, a mere 3 days later we went to a Christmas fireside in Tempe, walked out at a little after 8 and thought we were going to die! It was so dang cold! I had to have been in the 50's (which is cold for here). Monday was also really cold, and sans sun (a rarity here). Yesterday and today warmed up a little more, but not much. I'm very much regretting having left my winter coats in Cleveland (who knew I was going to need them! !#@$)

This weekend is one of my roommates, Nanette, birthday. Friday we're going to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner with friends (it's her favorite restaurant because they make pizza with whole wheat crust -- she won't eat anything but healthy food. I've taken to calling white flour "satans flour"). Sunday we have a conference for our church until like 9, but then we are having friends over for cake and ice cream. Nanette will be making her own cake (whole wheat carrot -- if it's anything like her homemade cinnamon rolls GAG! you eat one cinnamon roll, that's 100% whole wheat and you're on the potty the whole next day!). She has requested that I , for whatever reason, will make the "normal people cake" (also my verbage). I asked if I could just buy a cake (who doesn't love store bought cake?! I certainly do) but noooooo it has to be baked at our house. I have since decided that I will go all out and make devil's food cake cupcakes and homemade buttercream frosting. I will let the masses know how it turns out.

On the same day as Nanette's birthday it's my little love's first birthday! I can't believe that little Griffin will be a year! This year has certainly flown by!

Griffin in Target just before Halloween. We put him in a Yoda costume.
Did I mention it was a dog costume??
