Since I've last updated, we got a new roommate. Ok, not really a roommate so much as a new animal. His name is Darwin, and he is a parakeet. We didn't set out looking for a new pet, he just sort of happened upon us. Nanette and I were out running some errands and needed to run to the pet store to get food for Mr. Bird, their cockatiel. We saw this cage of parakeets and instantly fell in love with Darwin (mind you, I don't like birds at all.) He's been a great edition to our home. He's like Mr. Bird's little brother, always bugging around him and trying to be like Mr. Bird. I don't think Mr. Bird is as thrilled to have a new cage-mate.
Kristie ditched Nanette and I on Halloween to go to California for our friend from Ohio, Emily's baby shower. Nanette and I had to fend for ourselves, so we attended a church Halloween gathering, which we thought was going to be games and such, but ended up being a dance (puke). We went as "two peas in a pod," which consisted of us wearing green shirts, a duct-tape "p" on our chest, and cute green makeup (we sort of looked like fairies). We stayed for about an hour, danced the electric slide, then came home and watched movies. Sigh.Last night we had a housewarming party. I didn't think to take any pictures, mostly because we were so busy being good hostesses. We had about 20 people show up at varying times in the night; mostly they were friends from church. One girl and her husband and daughter came, and she had been roommates with Kristie and Nanette in California. And Kristie had a friend from work come. After all of the married people went home, we played Loaded Questions, a game which is a personal favorite. We had a strange mix of people playing, and some who didn't realize that you have to be a little silly with your answers, thus making the game a little interesting.
In some exciting news, I've joined a gym and have been swimming every day (except for Sunday). It feels so good to be back in the water, and I'm already starting to lose some weight. Only time will tell....!!!
