san diego and back to the daily grind

Blogger is being poopie, and I can't upload any of my photos into my blog, so you'll have to go to my Google web album to see accompanying photos. http://picasaweb.google.com/kerrie.johnson

Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to fly to San Diego for my fall break from school and visit Jen, Mike and the boys. I am so glad that I took the opportunity to do this, and I'm so thankful for their hospitality.

Among the really exciting things we did were, Sea World, some beautiful botanical gardens and Disneyland! I was initially going to return home on a Thursday, but decided that I was having much too much fun and prolonged my stay. I was glad I did, which meant I could go to Disneyland!

San Diego was beautiful. If it weren't for the fact that I would be living in a cardboard box (because that's all I could afford) I would move there in a heartbeat. The temperature, the mountains, the ocean, it's all beautiful!

It was so great to hang out with the Vus and catch up, and to see little Griffin almost walking! Time flies!

I'm now officially into my 2nd Quarter of school! It's crazy that I've been here in Phoenix for 4 months already! I was a little bit sad to have to return to work (not because I don't like my job, but just having to get up at 5am again ... that one hurts).

This coming week all students in Arizona take the AIMS test, which is their graduation test. Testing takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and the kids have a half day on Thursday (sadly, teachers to not -- we have an in service on gangs, which sadly, is quite applicable).

For all you Ohioans, I will be coming home December 22nd and leaving January 5th. Mark your calenders, make arrangements, and you better all have something fabulous planned for New Years (make this worth my while...).

Ohh, also, I forgot, but I'm going to start volunteering with my roommate Kristie two times a week teaching an advance English class to Spanish speakers at our church. It should be fun, and perhaps I will learn a bit of Spanish myself. Ole!
