happy birthday will!

Today is William Shakespeare's 444th birthday! Being the great English teacher that I am, I baked 120 cupcakes (from scratch) and frosted (from scratch) said cupcakes for 120 kids I don't even like. Well, I shouldn't say I don't like them ... they're just special.

My seniors are in the middle of a practice exam for a district assessment that starts next week, so we didn't celebrate much, but my freshmen were just finishing up writing personal narratives and we watched the 1969 BYU version of Johnny Lingo. The LDS kids in my class were mad we weren't watching the updated version, but all seemed to enjoy it. Then we had a chance to talk about Shakespeare, because we're starting Romeo & Juliet next week!

As a side note: I love love love this picture of Shakespeare by Picasso. I can't quite figure out why. Perhaps it's the fever with which I imagine Picasso drawing it matching the fever with which Shakespeare wrote. Who knows! But, Happy Birthday Bard!

Nanette's dad and his two friends have been at our house for the past week decorating our house. Apparently when Nanette's dad was here for Christmas he likened our house to a "college dorm room" in the interior decorating department (really, it did leave something to be desired). So I feel like a woman without a home because there's really no place for me to go ... these people are everywhere! While the house does look really good, it's been hard having strangers in the house (and opinionated, tactless people nonetheless). When the whole process is finished, I'll post pictures. I'm just a little bummed that I'll only live in a fancy house for a month!

Sherry (the lady with the vision) has really helped to make some organizational changes to the house. I'm a pile-monkey, which leads to clutter. But we have places to put things now, which is nice. I guess the reason why I feel like I'm a clutterer in this house is because I don't really have a place, other than my room, to call my own. And I really don't have furnature in my room which can house said clutter. Nanette and Kristie both have bigger rooms than I, and they have real furnature in their rooms. They also have their own desks in the house, which I do not. But all of this will be solved in a matter of a month!

I'm really getting antsy to move home. I want to start packing things up, but I know that's a bit premature. I should probably hold off on that. It looks like I'll be living with a friend, Brittany, in Lakewood when I move back home. My brother's friend from high school just bought a quad in Lakewood and needs to rent out one more unit -- which will go to us. He lives in one of them and then a Lakewood cop and a 20-something girl live in the others. When asking my brother where it's located, he keeps saying Detroit and Lake, which doesn't exist. Upon further review, I wonder if he means Lakeland, which is incidentally where Stephanie used to live ... hmmm!

I'm getting really excited for Chicago for Frannie's wedding. I'm still at a loss for what to wear -- I was going to go with black trousers and a white puff-sleeve button down with really cute pink heals, but someone told me I might be mistaken for the wait-staff. I guess it's back to the drawing board ...
