It was great to be back home -- snow and all! It reminded me why I made the decision to come back to Ohio. I never thought myself much of a family person, I could take 'em or leave 'em. But being 2,000 miles away really changed my perspective.I really missed hanging out with my siblings. I know this sounds crazy because it's rare to find people who get along (I still know someone who is well into their 30's who has screaming fights with siblings ... I think I stopped doing that in high school). I miss having dinner with my family and knowing that if I needed something I was within 10 minutes of all of them.
While I am extremely excited to come back, I'm also going to be sad to leave Phoenix. I will miss my students, but I must say that it's immensely helpful that 4/5 of my students are seniors and graduating this year. I haven't given much thought to packing, and I am not stressing about it.
But now that the time is slipping through my hands, I've realized how little time I have left here. Between detention duty and other responsibilities, I really have like 1 or 2 weekends free. Which is not enough time to get to Las Vegas, Tuscan, The Grand Canyon and San Diego! Eesh! I guess I'll just have to come back...

April Fool's Day
I have to add this to my post, because I think it's really funny.
I typically hate April Fool's Day. I don't like pranks, ergo, I don't like the day. But there were a series of pranks pulled, that I had to chuckle at.
In my first class, a boy who can disjoint his finger at will had me conviced that he dislocated his finger and needed to go to the nurse. I was leary of him, but wasn't going to question him just in case (can we spell law-suit?)
During the announcements at school, the guys who do the video announcements pulled one one the school. They said that the student parking lot was going to be closed down for 2 weeks for resurfacing, and that kids would have to walk, take the bus or be dropped off, as there was no parking for them. I had kids that were so worked up about it that they didn't hear that it was a joke. It took 10 minutes to calm them down!
I think the best prank I heard was from CNN. They ran an on-line story that Snoop Dogg converted to Mormonism. Mormons and non-Mormons can appreciate this. I had a few friends who fell for it, but really? Please! It indeed was a good laugh.
